Walking for you!

Today, I hit mile #20!  It's hard for me to even wrap my brain around, because only a week or so ago, I could barely complete a couple of laps.  With each mile, I feel stronger and happier!  Some days, I get outside just in time to walk with the kids and that is where I find my true inspiration.  They walk with me and tell me stories and dance around and I think...thank God for these children!

This week, I walked for several of my students.  As I walk, I think about that student and say a prayer that God keeps him/her safe, protected, and peaceful.  I pray that he/she is blessed all throughout life.  I walked for:  Naomi, Kaylynn, Joanne, Ava, Ethan, Carly, Payton, Conrad, Khloe, Maddy, Allison, Mason, Ayden, Morgan!  I was able to catch some of the kids for a picture, but some of the other kids were busy testing!  I will catch them next week.

These miles are for YOU!

This week, I had the privilege of walking miles for Mena, Wyatt, and Gracie, Matthew D. !  I am up to mile #6 and I have to tell you how good this has been for me.  It's very therapeutic.  I think of my sister, I think of my students, and I think of all the good things that have happened this year.  It really gives me a chance to clear my mind to start or end my days.

One thing I know for sure, is that I'm getting stronger with each mile and I feel so good!

This one is for Lily!

Today, I walked a mile for Lily and enjoyed some company from my 1st grade and Kindergarten students.  It was a beautiful sunshiney day and we had great conversation!

This one is for you, Lily!!

Ms. Monaghan's Message

March 2

Ms. Monaghan's Miles

On March 1st, I issued a challenge to myself to walk a mile for each student in our building.  This challenge is personal to me, as it was something my older sister, Kerri, and I had dreamed of doing
together.  Sadly, my sister passed away before we got the opportunity to make it happen.

In an effort to turn something that is so sad to me into something positive, I am challenging myself to walk one mile for every student in St. Patrick School.  This is going to be very hard for me, because I am so out of shape.  But, it will be a good, real life lesson to our students that even when something is hard, you can be successful if you just keep trying.

I may be slow, but I will put one foot in front of the other and just keep trying each and every day.  I'm calling this challenge, "Ms. Monaghan's Miles" and will keep track of my progress on a poster in the office.  I will choose one student each day to walk a mile for, and put that students name on my progress chart as a reminder that I walked for him/her that day.

I kicked it off yesterday, March 1, by dedicating my first mile to Fr. Robert Stewart.  Fr. Robert was a champion for our school and he always rooted for me as a new principal.  I dedicated my first mile to him, because I know he is still rooting for me from heaven!

If you're even in the building and see me walking, feel free to join in!  I would love the company.  And be sure to keep track of my progress...it keeps me motivated.
